As sprinting legend Usain Bolt said, “Dreams are free. Goals have a cost. While you can daydream for free, goals don’t come without a price. Time, Effort, Sacrifice, and Sweat. How will you pay for your goals?”

How committed are you to being your best? Jamaican-born Usain St. Leo Bolt is considered the world’s fastest man. Long and strong, his legs stretch the limits of human performance. He runs at what seems like lightening speed and with effortless ease. At 15, he demonstrated raw talent by winning the 200-meter dash at the 2002 World Junior Championships. He was chosen for the Jamaican Olympic team for the 2004 Athens games but was eliminated in the first 200-meter heat, and then finished 8th in Helsinki at the 2005 worlds. He was plagued by injuries, as well as what he called his “own laziness.” In 2007, he started to train harder and break world records — transforming from great to the greatest in his sport. He went on to win nine gold medals as a reigning champion at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. If you want to be the best, pay the price for your goals. Put in the time to enhance your knowledge and skills. Whether you are just starting out or, competing at the highest levels, make a conscious effort to excel even if you are “a natural.” Don’t let your ego or overconfidence get in the way. Accept the sacrifice that may come with giving it your all. It may take some sweat along the way, but with persistence you will cross the finish line with a smile.

Until next time, remember-it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!

With Purpose & Power,
