August 14, 2019 – Historical icon, yoga master and award-winning author Tao Porchon-Lynch turned 101 on August 13, 2019 and as usual birthday calls and notes came in from around the world. Most notable was a surprise message from Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress and icon Angie Dickinson wishing Tao “a very Happy 101st Birthday.” Angie’s most popular work included Rio Grande, Big Bad Mama, Police Woman and Dressed To Kill. The Three Commitments
Sometimes the weight of life can seem heavy. You can either be crushed by it or learn how to carry the load. In the fall of 2016, I was traveling non-stop for my work with yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. At now almost 100 years old, she shows us how to live with vitality regardless of age. Dancing Light, the book we co-wrote (along with my mom Janie Sykes-Kennedy) won ten awards, and then Tao and I were featured in Athleta’s Power of She campaign. It’s been an exciting time. However, I’ve been experiencing a very strange dichotomy. In between amplifying Tao’s light, I have been fighting extreme darkness in the sunny state of Florida.

In addition to the regular breakfast series Wendy hosts, we thought that a short yoga class with Tao would be a treat to give people a taste of her teachings. Afterwards, I was delighted to moderate the conversation alongside Wendy.

Afternoon with a Swami & a Yoga Master
July 14, 2016–97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch and I spent the afternoon with Shwaasaguru Sri Vachananand Swamiji from Bangalore. He is a yogic science expert and philosopher best known for his mass yoga camps, TV shows in India and teaching of Shwaasa yoga. He was sent to his Master Sri Marulashankara Shivayogi at age 8 and has been dedicated to the yogic lifestyle since. Tao presented Shwaasaguru with her Dancing Light book. Cameo on CBS News with Tao
July 12, 2016–Over the last few years, I’ve stayed in the background from a media standpoint to focus my energies on shining light on 97-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Now I’m easing back in the public eye with some cameos. I was delighted to be in a CBS News featuring Mary Calvi. It was such a pleasure working with Mary, who is also First Lady of Yonkers. She joined Tao’s Thursday morning yoga session at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York. It was her first yoga class and she looked like a pro! I made comments on Tao as her student and co-author of her autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master.
