Listen to this week’s message:
As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “If you love someone, the greatest gift you can give them is your presence.”
How present are you? When my nephew was little we used to make a gingerbread house during the holidays. It was a big production that took a couple of days to construct entirely from scratch. After we admired our handiwork–and ate some leftover “lumber”–he would give our creation to his Sunday school class. What I enjoyed most was simply spending the time together. During special occasions we often run around trying to find the perfect gift. Sometimes we spend more than we should and get consumed with preparations. Instead of stressing out about what present to buy, give your presence. Slow down and invest your energy in making memories. Cook or bake together. Turn off the computer, put down the phone and break out some old-fashioned board games. Pop some popcorn and watch a movie. Offer a gift certificate that can be redeemed for limitless hugs. As the years go by, you may not recall the sweater or the perfume you received but you are likely to smile thinking about the moments you shared.
Until next time, remember–it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!
With Purpose & Power,
Terri
