Telluride Film Festival

George Clooney and Oliver Kwon at Telluride Film Festival - Sept 2011

THE BUZZ: I want to give a shout out to Oliver Kwon and his continued success with the film, Corações Sujos (Dirty Hearts), which we recommended here recently in our Power List. The film just launched in Brazil to sold-out audiences and is getting rave reviews. Read our review from the New York-MoMA premiere. If you are in a country where it is airing, certainly check the film out.

Oliver’s company, Americas Film Conservancy (AFC) is now a sponsor of the Telluride Film Festival – arguably one of the best film festivals in the world. Descendants, King’s Speech and Slum Dog Millionaire, to mention just a few, all had their North American premieres there before going off to being nominated/winning Oscars. If you are a film buff and you’re anywhere near Colorado, Telluride is the place to be.

AFC had two films selected at Telluride, Tropicalia and Hollywood Don’t Surf last year. Both films open in Brazilian theatres in a couple of weeks – on September 10th, 2012. Last year, the festival also gave a special tribute to George Clooney. What’s playing in the Telluride program this year is not revealed until it begins so stayed tuned! The Festival runs from August 31st through September 3rd.
