THE BUZZ: From April 15th to 18th, 2012, I participated in the Young Global Leader (YGL) Summit and World Economic Forum on Latin America in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. At our YGL event, we had more than 250 leaders from business, government and civil society. It’s an impressive group making a difference around the world. We had a private Meet-the-Leader session with President Felipe Calderón. He was gracious enough to take a picture with me – in fact, he showed my friend how to use the camera! For our “Protect the Asset” push, I taught yoga in the mornings overlooking the ocean. It was gorgeous. See motivational card and listen to the backstory on Cowbird.
The WEF meeting had close to 900 top regional and global leaders from 70 nations under the theme “Regional Transformation in a New Global Context.” A common thread in many of the discussions was how to attract trade and investment to the region to drive growth. Among the priorities are to keep economies open, improve the rule of law, deal with the drug cartels and organized crime, and nurture young people. Read and watch coverage from the event.
