THE BUZZ…
On Saturday, May 30th, 2009, I organized and hosted the first annual Power New York City: Health & Empowerment Symposium on behalf of the American Heart Association. The purpose of the event was to empower those in the minority community to take control of their own lives. It offered inspirational talks, self-management tools, health screenings, and discussions on “total health” including healthy eating, mental health, oral health, skincare, disease management and prevention. It featured experts from the New York City area, including Terrie M. Williams as the keynote speaker. View more pictures from the event.
