Soulful Celebration

THE BUZZ… Last night, I had the pleasure of seeing the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra perform at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem. It was absolutely beautiful. Wynton Marsalis, whom I’ve known for a long time, wrote the music for this celebration of Abyssinian’s 200th anniversary. He was as brilliant as ever – delivering a piece that literally brought people to their feet and some to tears. Reverend Butts was as dynamic as always and the bicentennial choir reminded us that we were indeed in church! I must thank Vickie Powell again for inviting me.

The writing, playing, and hearing of music can be in itself a spiritual experience. I know for me it is a “mood-changer.” If my energy is low, certain music will lift it instantly. I believe that part of it is the actual vibrational frequency affecting my own Core.

What are your mood-changers? Think about how you can use music to celebrate your own soul. You might light some candles, draw a bath and put on some Mozart… or Spanish guitar might stir your spirit. If you don’t know what will do it, experiment. Determine your own soundtrack for positive and harmonious living. As Anais Nin said:

Music melts all the separate parts of our bodies together.

With Purpose & Power,
