THE BUZZ: On Monday, April 29th, 2013, I attended the “50 Years of Women at HBS – Inspiring Women Who Make a Difference Reception” at JP Morgan’s headquarters in New York. It was sponsored by the Harvard Business School (HBS) Women’s Association of Greater NY and hosted by Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of JP Morgan Asset Management and MBA ’93.
THE BUZZ: On Saturday, March 30th, 2013, I attended the 2013 Women of Distinction Spirit Awards Luncheon hosted by the Greater New York Chapter of The Links. It was held at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers. The honorees this year included Jo Ann Jenkins, COO of AARP and President of the AARP Foundation and Dr. Lorraine Madry, Senior Program Director for Domestic Violence Services, Urban Women’s Retreat. The event had a wonderful turnout and was capped off by a Spring fashion show put together by Laurita Shields.

PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS: In the 1990s, I spent time in Johannesburg and Cape Town with my mom. I was participating in the Harvard Business School International Alumni Conference and then we spent additional time exploring. A couple of good friends showed us around Jo’burg – giving us the “insider’s tour” – one taking us into the townships and the other to key business sites and wonderful restaurants.
