Integrative Healthcare Symposium 2009
On February 19th and 20th, 2009, I participated in the Integrative Healthcare Symposium in New York. The event is a gathering of influential and inspiring practitioners and healthcare professionals in integrative medicine and offers informational programs, updates on evidence-based research, and peer-to peer networking. On February 19th, I moderated a panel entitled “From Local to Global: Nursing Leadership for Change.” Panelists include: Barbara Dossey, PhD, RN; Barbara Sattler, PhD, RN; Dorothy Larkin, PhD, RN; Mary Jo Kreitzer, PhD, RN. On Saturday, February 20th, I taught a Ta Yoga class for the program. I’m honored to be a part of these landmark activities.

I’ve been answering more calls lately from people who are trying to make sense of our rapidly changing world. They are searching for refuge from the storm – something to hold on to. Some, who have never been unemployed in their adult lives, have lost their livelihoods.

My Mom’s cousin, Juanita Jeanette Lindsey, died in Harlem at the age of 71. On the surface, Jeanette appeared to live an ordinary life, yet her everyday boldness made her extraordinary.

90-year-old yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch
THE BUZZ: I was honored today to once again take a workshop with Tao Porchon-Lynch, one of my favorite yoga teachers. At 90 years old, she is stronger – physically and spiritually – than most people I know, and is a constant inspiration for my own life and many others. She often talks about allowing the yoga practice to come from the inside which is where your true power lies. She is indeed a PWR Broker – a light that shines so bright that you feel her warmth the moment you step into her presence.

THE BUZZ… On Friday, I had the honor of speaking at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The NIH, a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research. I gave a keynote speech on “Yoga as a Corporate Stress Management Tool.”
