The Pentagon

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

MAIN MUSINGS: I had a meeting at the Pentagon today. In the language of my nephew… that was cool! Obviously, the security was extremely tight. It took about 20 minutes to get into the building. I had boots on with silver buckles hidden under my long suit pants. The guard had me lift up my pant legs above the boots to show I was not concealing anything!

The Pentagon is one of the world’s largest office buildings and is the headquarters of the Department of Defense. It is like a little city. There are 284 rest rooms and 691 water fountains. It has three times the floor space of the Empire State Building in New York. Over 200,000 telephone calls are made daily through phones connected by 100,000 miles of telephone cable. The building contains a 5-acre center courtyard that is the world’s largest military no-hat, no-salute zone.

I sat in the cafeteria with the person with whom I was meeting. In order to get there, we got a bit of exercise. It was like walking through a series of tunnels. However (I like to collect these facts), despite 17.5 miles of corridors it takes only seven minutes to walk between any two points in the building!

With Purpose & Power,
