Listen to this week’s message:
It’s been said, “There but for the grace of God, go I.”
How often do you recognize grace? The preacher John Bradford was a prisoner in the 1550s and saw a man being led to the gallows for execution. He realized that it could have been him and said, “There but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford.” It was a statement of both compassion and relief, and its sentiment has carried on for centuries. I lived in Ground Zero on 9/11/2001 and had planned on being in the World Trade Center that morning but slept in instead. I think about how things might have been if I made a different decision. I’m empathetic to those who experienced loss and thankful that my family did not have to mourn me. Have you ever skirted misfortune, or been given a great gift without truly deserving it? Either way, be sure to acknowledge grace. If you pass a homeless person on the street, give him a blessing and be thankful that your needs are provided for. If a “lucky break” comes your way, accept it with humility. Life can change in an instant through forces beyond your control — the economy, terrorism, illness, natural disaster, death. It can also transform in incredible ways over night. Recognize mercy when it comes and receive favor with gratitude.
Until next time, remember-it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!
With Purpose & Power,
Terri
