I had the most delightful encounters this week as a result of my recent trip to Montenegro thanks to new friend Ari Seth Cohen. His book, Advanced Style, has spurned a community of glamorous women who are 70 years old and above. One of these women I met is 95-year-old Ilona Royce-Smithkin. With red hair and red eyelashes she created, she is a burst of color and energy.

Mo & Me Film Screening

THE BUZZ: On Tuesday, September 17, 2013 I attended Mo & Me: A Film Screening and Conversation at Tribeca Cinemas. Salim Amin, Chip Duncan and Riz Khan were on hand as speakers. I met fellow Young Global Leader Salim Amin a few years ago at the World Economic Forum meeting in Africa. This film is the powerful story of his father, Mohamed “Mo” Amin – undoubtedly Africa’s greatest photojournalist.

IMPRESSIONS: I was hiking in San Francisco and came across this rock formation on the ground.
When you look at it, what do you see?

To many, it is the peace symbol that was designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement and later made popular by hippies in the U.S. during the 1960s. It was a beacon of hope for those who protested nuclear weapons, pushed to protect the Earth and create a new age utopia.

To some, though, it is a symbol of destruction…
