Q&A: This year flew by. I started a business and feel that my energy was somewhat scattered doing a lot of busywork. I didn’t make the revenue I wanted. My personal life is also in shambles. I’m gained some weight. I work around the clock and have no time to spend with my girlfriend. She will be my ex if I don’t shape up – physically and timewise! How can I make resolutions for my entire life that will really stick?
Q&A: I have finally decided that I must leave the corporate world to pursue my dream of having my own business. Currently, I am a marketing executive for a large media company. I’ve done well, but my heart is not in it anymore. My passion has always been baking. I want to start a line of healthy snacks. I have been cooking on the side, and everyone always enjoys what I make. I just don’t know how to make the transition. Where should I start?
ACTION. What do you need to accomplish today? Is something holding you back from living fully? What step can you take right now to bring you closer to your life vision? Many of us live in our heads. We create stories of what we will do and re-live the emotions of what we’ve done – for good or bad. This prevents us from being fully Present in the moment.
Q&A: I am 34 years old and pretty much have accomplished all of my academic goals. However, I am learning that since I got married – it’s been a little over a year – I am really unable to focus on anything. My eating and my exercising have all taken a hit because I haven’t been able to focus. As a result, I’ve gained 15 pounds due to consistent binging. Even my reading is taking a serious hit. I can’t finish any book I start before I see another one that I’d much rather read. Could you please share some things to help get me back on the right track?
DILIGENCE. Do you always do your best? Do you remain focused on your goals? How often have you given up when things seemed difficult? In 2007, I finished my doctorate in World Religions and became Dr. Kennedy, or “Dr. Terri K.” as my friends are calling me. As a busy entrepreneur, I had to be focused to get the work done in-between leading corporate workshops, speaking at events, coaching private clients, teaching yoga classes, and writing this column and other articles. It wasn’t easy and often required me to sacrifice “play-time” such as catching the latest movie, for “cerebral time” which usually included taking an exam or researching for another paper. Since it was a goal I wanted to achieve, I worked steadily on it over the last few years.
