The Three Commitments

TKCard_SurrenderIntoPowerFJ

Sometimes the weight of life can seem heavy. You can either be crushed by it or learn how to carry the load. In the fall of 2016, I was traveling non-stop for my work with yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. At now almost 100 years old, she shows us how to live with vitality regardless of age. Dancing Light, the book we co-wrote (along with my mom Janie Sykes-Kennedy) won ten awards, and then Tao and I were featured in Athleta’s Power of She campaign. It’s been an exciting time. However, I’ve been experiencing a very strange dichotomy. In between amplifying Tao’s light, I have been fighting extreme darkness in the sunny state of Florida.

The Power of… PRACTICE

Practicing

PRACTICE. What is your daily practice? Are you practicing peace or anxiety? Are you practicing how to succeed or simply survive? Are you putting into practice what you already know?

The Power of… ACTION

Taking Action

ACTION. What do you need to accomplish today? Is something holding you back from living fully? What step can you take right now to bring you closer to your life vision? Many of us live in our heads. We create stories of what we will do and re-live the emotions of what we’ve done – for good or bad. This prevents us from being fully Present in the moment.

The Power of… CHOICE

Choices

CHOICE. How are you choosing to live? Do you realize all of the choices you make every week, every day, every second? Do you ever truly think about the consequences? When I was four years old my mom gave me The Little Me and THE GREAT ME, by Lou Austin which laid the groundwork for my spiritual development. With a bright yellow cover and joyful illustrations, this simple book explains that there are two wills in every person: one – the will of the human self (the Little Me), the other – the will of the divine self (THE GREAT ME). Between these two forces there is a continuous running battle.
