Listen to this week’s message:
A Polish Proverb says, “Not my circus. Not my monkeys” (or Nie mój cyrk, nie moje malpy which literally means “not my problem”).
How much time do you spend on other people’s problems? We’ve all been there at some point… there is an issue someone else is having and you get caught up in the drama. Perhaps you are a “fixer” or try to be a “ringleader” for other people. If you are responsible for the situation, then by all means take appropriate action. However, if it’s not your act, get off the stage. Direct your own show. You’re not here to change or control other people. The only real role you have been cast for is the star in your own life. That may sound selfish but that perspective actually reduces stress and helps you make authentic decisions. If you want to be a good friend, partner or leader, simply listen and serve as a sounding board. Seek to be empathetic acknowledging the other person versus sympathetic trying to rescue them. It is more empowering when you show faith and not create dependency. Spend time taming your own “monkey mind” so you can be present with those who matter and focus energy on releasing your gifts.
Until next time, remember-it’s your divine life, live it to the fullest. The power is in your hands!
With Purpose & Power,
Terri
