Return to Senegal

POWER LIVING® TV
In Power Living® with Dr. Terri Kennedy, experience the Third World Festival of Black Arts & Culture in Dakar, Senegal. The Festival, which took place December 2010, brought together thousands of people from 65 countries to celebrate the creativity and diversity of the African Diaspora. It was an impressive show of pride and unity. Terri and her family were there as guests of His Excellency, President Abdoulaye Wade and witnessed the progress that continues to be made in this democratic African country.

Dr. James Scott Kennedy and Janie Sykes-Kennedy participated in the First World Festival of Negro Arts in Dakar in 1966, along with other American cultural greats such as Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes and Katherine Dunham. Therefore, on this return trip to Senegal, Janie Sykes-Kennedy provided a unique historical perspective to the Senegalese media and Festival participants. At 75 years old, she was indeed a rock star – and even spoke to thousands of youth before the Akon concert!
