The Dividing Line

Happy Halloween and New Year! Although this originally pagan holiday has become a celebration of confections in the U.S., it is also regarded as the Celtic New Year. Therefore, I’ve decided to make it the dividing line for my own new year. After all, today was my last day in the space I’ve been in for six years in Harlem.

We moved the Ta Yoga House from its beautiful brownstone home on 128th Street. I’ve been wanting to do it for awhile since we had outgrown the space many moons ago, but life just kept on getting busier. Once I finally made the decision, however, all of the pieces began to fall in place.

The process of moving reminded me of my favorite quote:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets:

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!”

The entire quote is often given to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, but the first part is from W. H. Murray in The Scottish Himalaya Expedition, 1951. Nevertheless, it is all inspiring!

In our new community-based home, we’ll be able to offer all of the yoga classes for free or by donation. The new structure also frees me up to continue my national and international Power Living work. Even though I have not finalized the location for the new space (we have a couple of good options), I have faith that this is the right time to make the move… and providence is backing me up. I know it is divinely right and I am receiving confirmation by how smooth things are flowing.

What decision have you been putting off that, once made, could make a difference in your life? Are you holding back your destiny? No matter how big or small, take the first step today. Begin the research. Make the phone call. Start your new year right now. Find your own inspiration in “The Power of… ACTION” and “The Power of… BOLDNESS.”

With Purpose & Power,
