In The Spirit

THE BUZZ… After the morning yoga class today at the Ta Yoga House, I led a stress management/healthy living session for the “Women’s Wellness Workshop” at Harden Memorial CME Church in the Bronx. The fundraising event was coordinated by the Young Adult Council at the church and a portion of the proceeds were donated to UNICEF’s initiative to provide the proper nutritional equipment and foods to children in Africa and around the world.

March is National Women’s Month as well as National Nutrition Month. In an effort to celebrate Sisterhood and to remind us that in order to be great mothers, sisters, wives and friends we have to first take care of ourselves, the Young Adult Council sponsored this program. I was so impressed by Reverend R. Buggie-Brown and her church community – particularly Cherisse Challenger-Cleary who was key in organizing the event. Below is part of the thank you email she sent:

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you so much for coming to Harden Memorial CME Church this weekend to participate in our first Women’s Wellness Brunch and Tea Party! We were all overjoyed by your presence and the women who attending can not say enough good things about your segment. After Sundays service I took a look around the room and could see wives giving their husbands your post cards and the young adults showing others some of the yoga moves. Our musician who is a young adult male even came up to me and said one of the women taught him how to regain energy with that jolted breathing exercise you showed us. You really made a huge impact on all of us and we are so blessed to have had you at our church home.

What a blessing it is for me to be able to do this work! I thank you Cherisse for the invitation. Ask yourself: What am I offering the world? As Albert Einstein said:

Try not to become a man of success but a man of value.

With Purpose & Power,

Terri
